Money

Unreimbursed costs are a ledger, not a memory.

Date, amount, what it was for, receipt, the day you asked, and whether you were paid back. Six fields, every time.

Copays, braces, school fees, uniforms, registration for a season of soccer. Each one is small enough to absorb and forget, which is exactly why the total is invisible until someone asks for it. By then the amounts are spread across a bank app, a text thread, and a folder of paper you meant to sort.

Logging the cost the day you pay it turns a disagreement into arithmetic. Nobody has to agree about whether you were reimbursed for the dentist in April if there is a row with the date, the amount, the receipt, and the day you asked.

What each row holds

Date paid
The day the money left your account, from the receipt or statement.
Amount
Exactly what you paid. Leave it blank rather than estimating.
Category
Medical, dental, school, activity, childcare — so totals can be read by type.
Receipt
A photo or a PDF, kept as the exhibit for that row.
Date you asked
When you sent the request and how, with the message attached if there is one.
Reimbursed
Paid in full, paid in part with the amount, or still unpaid. Nothing assumed.

In the appExpenses → Add expense. Unpaid rows keep a running total you can hand over without doing the math.

A number instead of an argument

The packet prints the ledger as one table with the unpaid total at the bottom and the receipts numbered behind it. Nothing is estimated, nothing is rounded up, and no cost appears without a date.

Questions parents ask

How do I track unreimbursed medical and school costs?

Record each cost when you pay it: the date, the amount, what it was for, the receipt, the date you asked to be paid back, and whether you ever were. The unpaid total then adds itself up.

What if I lost the receipt?

Log what you actually know and leave the rest blank. Never guess an amount to fill a hole — a ledger with one honest gap is stronger than one with an invented number in it.

Does this calculate child support?

No. This is a record of what you paid and what was reimbursed. Support amounts come from your order and your state's guidelines, and your attorney is the person to ask about them.

How does my attorney use it?

As one table: dated rows, a running unpaid total, and receipts numbered as exhibits. It is the part of a hearing prep call that usually eats an hour.
