Situations
They enrolled or booked without telling you. Log it today.
School and medical decisions move quickly, and by the time it matters nobody agrees on who was told what.
Write down what you learned, when you learned it, and how. Keep the letter, portal screenshot or invoice with it.
What to log, the day you find out
- The decision
- New school, a change of class, an appointment, a treatment, a form signed.
- Who decided
- The parent, the school, or a provider. Only what you know.
- Notice given
- None, after the fact, or in advance — with the date and the method.
- How you found out
- Letter, portal, a text, the child’s teacher, a bill.
- Documents
- Enrolment form, appointment summary, invoice, portal screenshot.
- What you did next
- Asked in writing, called the school, told your attorney.
In the appPapers → add the document, then link it to the entry so both appear together in a packet.
Scout is free. The other parent never gets a login.
Questions parents ask
Can I get records the school will not give me?
Not through this app. Requests go to the school or provider. What you can do is keep a dated record of each request and each answer.
Does this tell me whether they broke the order?
No. It is a record-keeping tool and gives no legal advice. Your attorney reads your order and decides what it means.
Should I log it if it turned out fine?
Yes, briefly. A record that includes ordinary, resolved events reads as a record rather than a complaint file.
